Pakistani PM Reiterates Boosting Cooperation with Iran
(FNA)- Pakistani Prime Minister Mohammad Nawaz Sharif in a meeting with Iranian Interior Minister Abdolreza Rahmani Fazli underscored his country's enthusiasm for increasing cooperation and interactions with Tehran in all fields.
"Establishment of all-out bilateral relations with the neighboring and regional countries which enjoy peace and stability is one of the priorities and important policies of Pakistan's government," Nawaz Sharif said during the meeting in Islamabad on Tuesday.
He underlined his country's strong resolve to strengthen ties with Iran.
Rahmani Fazli, for his part, referred to Iran and Pakistan's commonalities in different arenas, and said, "We assume Pakistan as a friendly and brotherly country and we have good neighborly relations with this country."
During the meeting, the two sides also underlined the necessity for creating a proper atmosphere and ground for strengthening mutual cooperation and interactions and increasing reciprocal visits by the Iranian and Pakistani officials.
Iran and Pakistan have exchanged delegations on a regular basis and the two neighboring countries are keen to expedite expansion of their bilateral ties.
Earlier reports in April said that Nawaz Sharif plans to pay an official visit to Iran to discuss the latest developments in the region and exchange views over enhancement of all-out relations.
"The two countries will decide the date for the visit," Sharif's Special Advisor Sartaj Aziz told reporters.
He noted that the Iranian and Pakistani governments are making the necessary preparations to finalize the date of the trip.
