Hamas, Fatah to Meet in Cairo for Unity Talks
(FNA)- Delegations from the Palestinian Islamic Resistance Movement Hamas and the Palestinian Fatah Movement will meet in Cairo on Tuesday to discuss political reconciliation, a senior Hamas official said.
The Deputy Chief of Hamas Political Bureau Moussa Abu Marzuq said that the meeting would discuss ending the split between the rival Palestinian factions, adding that Hamas will do whatever it takes to achieve reconciliation, the Palestinian Maan news agency reported.
Fatah and Hamas signed an agreement in Cairo in 2011, pledging to set up a caretaker government of independents to pave the way for parliamentary and presidential elections within 12 months, but its implementation stalled over the government's make-up.
