(MNA) - White House spokesman Jay Carney said on Monday that there is still time for diplomacy in regard to Iran’s nuclear issue, according to ynetnews.

“We believe that there remains time and space for that effort to bear fruit…” Carney told reporters at a news briefing.

The remarks came amid heightened tensions between Israel and the United States over Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's demand for a U.S. "red line" on Iran’s nuclear issue.

In an interview with Bloomberg Radio, U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton was asked about Netanyahu's demand that a red line be set and also whether she thought a time limit should be put on negotiations with Iran over its nuclear program.

Clinton said, "We're not setting deadlines."

She added the U.S. still considers negotiations as “by far the best approach” to resolve the nuclear standoff between Iran and the West.
