Iran praises China’s political support for Syria
(MNA) – Chinese Deputy Foreign Minister Zhang Zhijun held talks in Tehran on Sunday with Hossein Amir Abdollahian, the Iranian deputy foreign minister for Arab and African Affairs.
Zhang highlighted the importance of relations with Iran as an important country in the Middle East region.
He appreciated Iran for its efforts to resolve the crisis in Syria politically.
Syria is involved in an 18-month conflict with insurgents groups which are supported by some regional Arab states and Western countries.
The government of President Bashar al-Assad has branded insurgents as terrorists who are affiliated to al-Qaeda.
Abdollahian said, “Syria is going strong on the path to fight terrorists.”
Abdollahian said Iran continues to support the Syrians and reforms introduced by President Assad.
He also said the course of developments in Syria have made the enemies disappointed and “now the victory of the country’s people has become evident.”
Abdollahian appreciated China’s “political support” for Syria and insisted on the need for a common approach toward Syria.
