(FNA)- Iranian Foreign Minister Ali Akbar Salehi said that the conditions in the Syrian capital, Damascus, are normal and people are conducting their everyday life.

Answering to an FNA question about the latest status of Iranian expatriates in Syria specially in the wake of the latest developments in the Arab country, Salehi said, "There is no problem in Syria to be concerned about."

"The conditions in Damascus are normal and the Iranian nationals in Syria are facing no problem," Salehi underscored.

On Saturday, calm was eventually restored in the main streets of Damascus which were the scene of severe clashes between the Syrian army and terrorist groups in the last few days and people have resumed their everyday life activities once again.

According to FNA dispatches from the Syrian capital, the clashes in Damascus's main streets had kept many Syrian people at home, but on Saturday after the street fights abated, people resumed their daily life.

Eye-witnesses in Damascus said that those areas in the capital city which were the scene of heavy clashes between the terrorists and the governmental forces, experienced calm on Saturday and safe trafficking of citizens is now possible.

The development came days after an explosion inside the Syrian national security headquarters in Damascus targeted ministers from President Bashar al-Assad's government who were meeting with defense officials on Wednesday, killing three of the most senior members of President Assad's inner circle, including his brother-in-law.

The Syrian Army said Defense Minister and his deputy, Asef Shawkat, were both killed in the explosion. Shawkat, Assad's brother-in-law, also held the title of deputy chief of staff.

According to the Syrian TV, former Defense Minister Hassan Turkmani, who headed Assad's 'crisis cell' that coordinated the government's response to the 16-month unrests, was also killed in the blast.

Other ministers and military officials were seriously wounded in the explosion, according to state media.

The Syrian state TV reported that Interior Minister Mohammed al-Shaar and National Security Department Head Major General Hisham Ikhtiar sustained injuries. But reports said on Friday that Ikhtiar has died of explosion wounds.
