(FNA)- An Iranian army official said the wave of economic sanctions imposed against Iran reveal that enemies of the country are not able to harm the country through military action.

"Enemies assess military and tough confrontation against Iran as to costly and they have, hence, resorted to cultural invasion and psychological operation to influence our youths to keep them away from the path of the ruling system," Head of the Islamic Republic Army's political department Seyed Mohammad Ali Al-e Hashem said, addressing soldiers, personnel and commanders of the Army's Brigade 40 in Sarab Northwestern Iran on Monday.

He said due to the same military weakness, the enemy has resorted to sanctions to undermine the Islamic Republic.

"Today enemies are pursuing the economic sanctions as a tactic for their change of behavior and for weakening the sacred ruling system of the Islamic Republic of Iran," said the official.

Tehran is now under four rounds of UN Security Council sanctions for turning down West's calls to give up its nuclear rights. Tehran has dismissed the West's demand as politically tainted and illogical, stressing that sanctions and pressures merely consolidate Iranians' national resolve to continue the path.

Iranian officials have always stressed that the International and unilateral sanctions against Iran have had no result but inflicting damage on the European companies.
