(FNA)- Armenia's President Serzh Sargsian told the visiting Iranian interior minister that he would visit Tehran late in August to attend a heads-of-state summit of the Non-Aligned Movement (NAM).

Sargsian was asked during a meeting in Yerevan Monday night to join the NAM summit by Iranian Interior Minister Mostafa Mohammad Najjar, who invited him on behalf of Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad.

In Tehran, the Armenian president is also due to attend meetings with senior Iranian officials on bilateral ties and regional issues.

Also during the Monday meeting, Sargsian and Najjar discussed security cooperation between the two neighboring states.

Najjar voiced Tehran's preparedness to ink an understanding with Armenia on security cooperation, saying, "The Islamic Republic of Iran is ready to provide Armenia with its experiences in campaign against drug, organized crimes, crisis management, and dam and road construction."

He noted Armenia's outstanding position in Iran's foreign policy, and said Tehran sees no impediments to the growing expansion of relations with Yerevan.

Sargsian, for his part, described Tehran-Yerevan ties as "very good" and "progressive", and said, "Armenia will make its optimum efforts to enforce the agreements held by the two sides."

He also assured the Iranian minister of his participation in the upcoming summit meeting of the Non-Aligned Movement.
