Officials: Bombs kill 35 during Iraq pilgrimage
(AP) – Officials say two car bombs in the Iraqi city of Hillah have killed 15 people, adding to the death toll from coordinated attacks on Shiite pilgrims that killed at least 20 across Baghdad.
Wednesday's wave of bombings targeted religious processions during the annual pilgrimage commemorating the 8th century death of a revered Shiite imam.
In Hillah, two police officers and a health worker say the car bombs exploded minutes apart at dawn in the center of town, which lies south of Baghdad. The officials spoke on condition of anonymity because they were not authorized to talk to the media.
Wednesday's death toll was expected to rise.
