SCO plans for new approach to regional peace, FM
IRNA – Iran's Foreign Minister Ali Akbar Salehi said on Thursday that the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) meeting is to outline new plans aiming to serve regional interests and maintain peace in egional countries.
Salehi told IRNA that the 12th SCO summit meeting is to release a document on Thursday in connection with these objectives.
By its measure, the SCO aims to prevent manipulation of the regional nations by the extra-regional powers, said Salehi.
He called for the expansion of economic cooperation between the SCO member countries and its observers in different fields.
He added that Iran and Russia have great industrial and energy potentials that can be useful to other states.
Referring to the 11-year-old SCO, the Iranian minister said the organization needs more development.
The SCO summit meeting kicked off on June 6 and will end today.
