Iran's Foreign Minister Ali Akbar Salehi has left Tehran for Kuwait to hold talks with the Kuwaiti officials on bilateral ties as well as the recent developments in the region.

Heading a political and parliamentary delegation, Salehi left Tehran on Sunday.

The foreign minister will also extend Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad’s invitation to Kuwaiti Emir Sheikh Sabah al-Ahmad al-Sabah to take part in a next Non-Aligned Movement (NAM) summit in Tehran.

The Islamic Republic of Iran has the rotating presidency of the movement for three years.

The Non-Aligned Movement is the largest grouping of countries outside of the United Nations, aimed at giving a voice to the developing world.

The purpose of the organization as stated in the Havana Declaration of 1979 is to ensure "the national independence, sovereignty, territorial integrity and security of non-aligned countries.”
