2 Iranian engineers abducted in Syria released

(MNA) – Two of the seven Iranian engineers and technicians who had been abducted in Syria in December 2011 have been released, Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Ramin Mehmanparast announced on Wednesday.

The engineers and technicians, who had been working at a power plant in Syria, were abducted by armed insurgents in the restive city of Homs.

Mehmanparast expressed hope that other Iranian nationals who have been kidnapped in Syria would be released soon.

He also thanked Turkish officials for the efforts they made to help obtain the release of the Iranian abductees.
