Press TV-Hamas Prime Minister Ismail Haniyeh says Iran will not need help from the Palestinian resistance movement in the event of a military confrontation with Israel.

"Iran did not ask anything from us and we think Iran is not in need of us," Haniyeh told Reuters in an interview on Thursday.

He added that the Israeli threats have been declared and they are not in need of analysis, “but I think such an issue would have grave consequences on the entire region."

"I cannot predict the scenarios but a battle of this kind would have repercussions for the region," the 48-year-old Hamas leader pointed out.

The United States and the European Union have repeatedly accused Iran of pursuing military objectives in its nuclear program with Washington and Tel Aviv threatening Tehran with the "option" of a military strike against its civilian nuclear facilities.

Iran argues that as a signatory to the Non-Proliferation Treaty and a member of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), it has every right to develop and acquire nuclear technology for peaceful purposes.

On March 20, the Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei emphasized that the Iranian nation will respond proportionally to any potential threat against its soil by the US or the Zionist regime of Israel.
