Iran to hold Persian language Olympiad in India

Tehran Times -- The Cultural Center of the Islamic Republic of Iran in New Delhi will hold the first Persian language Olympiad in India for Persian language Ph.D. students of Indian universities.

The Olympiad will be held from January 18 to 20 at the venue of the cultural center, the head of the center Ali Dehgahi told the Persian service of IRNA.

“Two or three Ph.D. students from each Indian university will compete at the event,” he added.

The Olympiad aims to discover the Persian language talents among the students and the winners will attend Persian language courses for one month at the University of Yazd in Iran to boost their knowledge, he said.

About 50 students will attend a compressed course on Persian language held by the center for three days and after that they will compete at the Olympiad, he added.

A meeting on the status of Persian language in India and its outlook to be attended by Persian language scholars and professors will be held on the sideline of event.
