Why Are Elements of 'Sedition' Misleading West about Iran

RAJANEWS - Unreliability and bias of the information sources of Western theoreticians about Iran, the social and political status of the public opinion as well as the extent of the people's support for the ruling establishment and its legitimate structure in Iran have caused the Westerners to rely mostly on unrealistic and unscientific accounts and estimates. These false estimates and accounts have made the West to make wrong decisions about the Islamic Republic of Iran.

According to Raja News, if some leaders and associates of the 'sedition' such as Mir Hossein Mousavi relied on such illusionary virtual spaces as www.balatarin.com as their source of information and evaluation of the prevailing conditions, outside Iran and among the spectrums operating to overthrow the Iranian establishment too, there is even a more serious information gap about the realities inside Iran.

Hossein Ghazian, a New York-based university professor of sociology who served as an advisor to Mousavi at the time of the 2009 presidential elections, gave an interview to the BBC a few days ago.

He was asked: "To what extent does the virtual space outside Iran echo the public opinion inside the country?" He replied: "In my opinion, the virtual space does not reflect the general situation inside the country nor does it represent the domestic realities politically and even culturally and socially. The group active in the media domain and virtual space are a special sector of the society, mostly elites and educated and geographically outside in Iran of course. I think they are very distant from what is happening inside Iran. They are moving inside a closed circle within their own networks and have no influence outside. Their evaluations too are inside themselves not outside."

It is important to note that the elements of the 'sedition' who have fled the country are not reliable information sources for the West for two reasons: First, their updated information and assessments from inside Iran has personal expiry date. After the passage of a few months to two years at most, due to the field distance, they would try to fill their information gap with insecure and scattered data based on speculation and illusion. Secondly, they would resort to imaginative accounts and exaggerating the news and information from inside Iran in an attempt to pretend that the 'sedition' and its backup inside Iran are still powerful so that the West would not lose hope in theme and continue its hefty financial and nonfinancial assistance to them.

As an example of the Westerners' erroneous calculations about Iran prompted by their unreliable providers, mention can be made of statements made last year by George Soros, director of one of the largest strategic and analytical studies institutes in the world in an interview with the CNN.

Soros who is very active in the field of color revolutions and his agents played a role in the unrests in such countries as Georgia (2008) told the CNN host, Fareed Zakaria that the Islamic Republic of Iran would fall in one year – a claim that came as a surprise even to Zakaria!

Speaking in a GPS program, the famous American billionaire said: "I am convinced that the regime will not survive. I don’t think they will be able to succeed because this is something that people behave very differently than in normal times. They actually are willing to sacrifice their lives for a common cause and what seems to be impossible not only becomes possible but it actually happens."

Chairman of the Open Society Foundations known to be the main institution behind the purple revolutions in the world, went as far as making a big gamble. He said: "So, I would like to bet that the Iranian regime will not be there in a year's time."

One year has passed and not only the IRI is standing firm but it is the colored bids of Mr. Soros who are either isolated or are totally frustrated and leaving Iran one after the other.

IRI Supreme Leader Ayatollah Khamenei, addressing the Friday prayers worshippers in Tehran on June 19, 2009, ridiculing those who planned to launch a color revolution in Iran like the one in Georgia. He said in historic remarks: "These idiots think Iran is like Georgia."

West's mistaken calculations about Iran originating from false data is an issue Iranian officials have time and again notified the Westerners against. Around this time last year, Secretary of the Supreme National Security Council Saeed Jalili attended "Geneva 3" meeting where he made a long statement about such false estimates which he said jeopardized West's technical and political credit regarding Iran's nuclear issue.

. Raja News has been a keen supporter of Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, though their support has abated following Ahmadinejad's recent measures which imply his confrontation with Iran's leadership. The first part of the website’s title, Raja, is in fact an allusion to the last name of Iran's second president, Mohammad-Ali Rajaei, who was known for his austere lifestyle and affection for the lower class, a trait Ahmadinejad has been trying to return to the higher echelon of Iranian politics since his presidency.
