Secretary of Iran's Supreme National Security Council (SNSC) Saeed Jalili has hailed the resistance of the Lebanese against aggressive powers, saying it improves the country's international status.

The resistance of Lebanon against aggression, occupation and terrorism has improved the country's position in the region and turned it into a stable country,” said Jalili in a meeting with Lebanese Foreign Minister Adnan Mansour in the Iranian capital, Tehran, on Sunday.

He added that Lebanon's independence and security are the outcomes of resistance and expressed hope that the new Lebanese government will bring welfare and peace to the Middle Eastern country, IRNA reported.

The Lebanese minister, for his part, said his country enjoys amicable relations with the Islamic Republic in various fields and called for the speedy implementation of joint projects.

Meanwhile, in a separate meeting with Algerian presidential advisor Kamel Rezzag Bara, the SNSC secretary said the
US uses military, economic and media means to intimidate nations.

“The United States is a clear sample of terrorism,” Jalili noted.

He stated that the US seeks to oblige nations to yield to its irrational and illegitimate demands and to stop opposing with its policies through weapons of mass destruction, sanctions, economic pressure and media propaganda.

He further explained that Washington is trying to suppress the independence and freedom of nations, stressing, “Recent developments in the region proved the ineffectiveness of US plots and demonstrated the vigilance of people for defending their rights.”

The Algerian official, for his part, highlighted the significance of providing a comprehensive definition of terrorism and said resistance should be differentiated from terrorism.

All nations have the basic right to resist both against occupation and cultural invasion, Rezzag concluded.
