(FNA)- Iranian Foreign Ministry Spokeswoman Marziyeh Afkham blasted US Secretary of State John Kerry's remarks, and said Washington is seeking to blame others for its wrong policy in Syria.

"The US secretary of state's comments inviting Iran to play a constructive role in Syria is an attempt to project the blame of others and is against the realities of the crisis in Syria," Afkham told reporters in Tehran on Thursday.

Reminding that Iran has always stressed the need for providing the ground for Syrian-Syrian talks and comprehensive political agreement as the only way to stop the war and end the crisis, she said, "In our view, only those solutions that are based on realities and respect the Syrian people's will and determination will bear fruit in Syria."

Afkham described the policies of the US and its allies in Syria as an obstacle to a political solution to the Syrian crisis, and said, "Any plan and solution to end the crisis in Syria which doesn’t prioritize fight against the terrorists and Takfiri and extremist groups is doomed to failure and setting any precondition for fighting against the terrorists and extremist groups means that the crisis will never end."

In relevant remarks on Wednesday, Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister Hossein Amir Abdollahian blasted the US policies on Syria, and called on the American officials to adopt a realistic approach towards the Arab country.

"We hope that the US could understand that the realities on the ground in Syria by adopting a realistic approach towards that country; we are waiting for Washington's change of attitude in this regard," Amir Abdollahian told reporters in Moscow.

He pointed to the US contradictory behavior towards Syria, and said, "If Washington in real sense supports political solution to the Syrian crisis and shows seriousness in fighting terrorism such behavior will be useful for the regional and international security."

Amir Abdollahian reiterated that any political solution to the Syrian crisis should include national dialogue and serious fight against terrorism.

Also, earlier this month, Iranian Parliament Speaker Ali Larijani in a meeting with Syrian Ambassador to Tehran Adnan Mahmoud underlined his country's continued support for Syria's war against the terrorists, and renewed Tehran's call for a political solution to the problems in the Arab country.

"The Islamic Republic of Iran will continue supporting Syria and it believes that with a new political strategy and mechanism, the Syrian leaders should be provided with an opportunity to solve their domestic problem and overcome the terrorists, Larijani said in the meeting in Tehran.

He also said that resistance of the people and leaders of Syria against the terrorists is praiseworthy.

Mahmoud, for his part, referred to Iran's support for resistance of Syrian people against the Takfiri terrorists, and said people and officials of Syria have always been thankful to Iran.
