(FNA)- Iranian Foreign Ministry Spokeswoman Marziyeh Afkham dismissed Tel Aviv's claims that it has arrested an Iranian spy as nothing but worn-out lies.

"We have seen the news. It has been proved repeatedly that claims made by Zionist sources are baseless," Afkham said in her weekly press conference in Tehran on Wednesday.

Warning that the Zionist regime seeks to use the current conditions in its favor and has raised baseless allegations against the Iranian nationals on different occasions, she said the relevant foreign ministry departments are following the story.

"Yet, you should have no doubt that the Zionist regime's allegation is baseless," Afkham emphasized.

The Central District Court in Central Israeli city of Lod sentenced an Iranian-born Belgian national to seven years in prison on Tuesday for what it called as spying for Iran.

In September 2013, the Shin Bet (Israel Security Agency) apprehended Ali Mansouri at Ben-Gurion Airport, where he was carrying photographs of the US Embassy in Tel Aviv taken from his nearby hotel balcony.
