(FNA)- Former Secretary of Iran's Supreme National Security Council (SNSC) Saeed Jalili said the western states are using Tehran's nuclear program only as a pretext to pressure Iran and will keep this pressure in place even if the nuclear standoff is resolved.

“They (western powers) are not concerned about the number of Iran’s centrifuges which are monitored by the inspectors (of the International Atomic Energy Agency), but are fearful of expansion of the Islamic thoughts that would limit their power,” Jalili, who is currently Supreme Leader’s representative at the SNSC said in a ceremony to unveil a comprehensive document on the cases of human rights violation in Britain.

Jalili further stressed that the Iranian nation would never allow anyone to violate its rights.

Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyed Ali Khamenei said in 2014 that even if Iran and the Sextet of world powers clinch an accord, the West will come up with new excuses to antagonize Tehran.
