(FNA)- Italian Ambassador to Tehran Mauro Conciatori underlined Iran's important role in resolving regional crises, and called for the further broadening of ties between the two countries.

"The Islamic Republic of Iran is one of the important actors of the region and controlling the regional crises is not possible without Iran's partnership, and this has always been stressed by Italian officials," Conciatori said in a meeting with Chairman of the Iranian parliament's National Security and Foreign Policy Commission Alaeddin Boroujerdi in Tehran on Sunday.

Elsewhere, he referred to the abundant economic and industrial capabilities in Iran and Italy, and said there are lots of opportunities in different economic and trade sectors of the two countries which can lead to the development of mutual cooperation.

Most of the key European actors have admitted Iran's important role in regional developments.

Late in October, a German foreign ministry spokeswoman underlined the vital role Tehran has always played in the settlement of crises in the region, particularly in defending Iraq against the ISIL terrorists.

Speaking at a regular weekly government press briefing, Sawsan Chebli said that Iran played a central role in tackling regional crises, specially when it comes to combating the ISIL.

She further added that Foreign Minister Frank-Walter Steinmeier has repeatedly stressed Iran's importance in resolving the crises, notably in Syria and Iraq.
