(FNA)- The Independent Election Commission of Afghanistan (IEC) released the final vote results for the runoff presidential election, and declared Ashraf Ghani as the country's new president.

The final results announcement comes almost two weeks after the completion of the comprehensive vote audit, Khaama Press reported.

The Independent Election Commission (IEC) chief, Ahmad Yousuf Nuristani officially declared Ashraf Ghani Ahmadzai as president of Afghanistan after comprehensive vote audit was concluded.

Nuristani did not disclose further details regarding the figures of the votes each candidate secured following the conclusion of the audit and invalidation process.

He said the final figures have been shared with the electoral camps of the two candidates.

The UN-supervised vote audit was launched late in July following an agreement between the two candidates after the election process was marred by massive fraud allegations.
