Tehran, Sept 17, IRNA – Foreign Ministry Spokeswoman Marziyeh Afkham said the objectives announced by the US-led coalition to fight the terrorist Daesh group stands in contrast with previous and current actions of its founders.

Afkham made the remarks in response to a question by reporters about the international developments relating to formation of an international coalition to fight the Daesh terrorist group (ISIS).

She said fighting terrorism required a political will rather than media and propaganda hypes.

She also said that Iran's views on the issue have already been outlined by the Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei.

She further explained that her ministry too has been quite clear in communicating its positions towards the terrorist group.

Afkham went on to say that the legal aspects of the anti-Daesh coalition is seriously unclear in terms of international laws because it is formed out of the United Nations mechanisms.

She also touched upon the political hypocrisy being exercised by some countries that are claiming to be fighting terrorism and are now pioneering the new anti-Daesh compaign.

A serious campaign against terrorism also called for a resolution to avoid double-standard games, Afkham said.

The record of some of the anti-Daesh coalition members show their long history of using terrorism as an instrument and also their double-standard treatment of the issue, she added.

The Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesperson went on to stress Iran's transparent policies on the need for a sincere and authentic campaign against terrorism.

She reiterated Iran's responsible attitudes and positions towards terrorism and urged all countries to help the Iraqi nation and government to lead a true anti-terrorism campaign while avoiding any military and political intervention in its internal affairs under the pretext of fighting terrorism.
