Iran, Russian foreign ministers confer

IRNA -- Iran’s Foreign Minister Mohammad-Javad Zarif conferred on Tuesday with his Russian counterpart Sergei Lavrov on issues of mutual interests and the regional and international developments.
The meeting took place prior to the Caspian Sea littoral states foreign ministers meeting in Moscow.

The two foreign ministers called for continued negotiations on regional and international issues as well as security of the region and the international campaign against terrorism.

They called for cooperation on the Caspian Sea, drawing up the legal regime for the Caspian Sea and expansion of parliamentary cooperation between the two countries.

They described the upcoming visit between the Iranian and Russian presidents in China as a turning point for expansion of cooperation between Tehran and Moscow.

The two ministers studied the humanitarian crisis in Syria and the country’s scheduled presidential election.

They expressed hope that talks between Iran and G5+1 would bear fruit in due course.

Iran’s foreign minister heading a delegation left Tehran for Moscow on Monday night to attend the foreign ministers meeting of the Caspian Sea literal states.
